The currency of Cape Verde is the Cape Verdean Escudos (CVE). 1 Euro = 110,265 CVE.

We recommend traveling with Euros, which are generally accepted across the country and in the banks in exchange for local currency.

As we are not part of the EU, Euros can’t be issued anywhere, but are accepted as payment all over the island; Paying in Euros, in general the price is 1 Euro = 100 CVE; To save your 10% we recommend to change some money in CVE in the Banks at the beginning of your stay.

The local banks are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (to change money you need to take your passport with you).

You can also withdraw cash (CVE) with Credit Card (Visa and MasterCard) within Banks or ATMs (operate 24 hours).

In Cape Verde, the climate is dry tropical. Temperatures are high throughout the year, with minimum temperatures reaching 24°C in January/February and maximum temperatures reaching 30°C in August /September. The rains are scarce throughout the year, the rainfall reaches a maximum of 80 mm per month and the higher winds are between January and May. Larger waves can be found on some parts of the island, which proves particularly popular with water sport enthusiasts.

and a bit of

TRADITION AND GASTRONOMY

Cape Verde was a Portuguese colony and has been independent since 1975. Here, slaves were brought to be converted to Catholicism and taught the Portuguese language, before being taken to Brazil. Despite the domineering imposition of European colonizers, acculturation took place in a fusion between European and African cultures. Thus, Cape Verdean culture is rich in the religious, gastronomic and musical aspects.

Taste Catchupa and Cuscus, the traditional dishes, listen a good Morna (Cesária Évora for example), try to go to a traditional festival like Santa Isabel where you can enjoy the regatta of traditional boats and dance to the rhythm of the drum in the São João procession.

We love to give our guests tips on how to experience the Cape Verdean lifestyle as much as possible.
